I made a new quilt! Man it's been a long time. I began this one in Sherri's Rail Fence class. I love making things like that. It's what feels the most energizing.
I loved this Rail Fence block! I love working with simple repeating patterns so I found this very exciting. The colors are inspired by my backyard fence and the colors that peek through my black fence are greens and orangey-browns.
It's always quite humbling but also extremely empowering to participate in a group of quilters that come from so many different places in their quilting journeys. Thank you Sherri, for sharing this amazing practice with the world, it has truly given me the language I was searching for.
This quilt started in Sherri's Improv That Block Flying Geese class. I wanted this quilt to reflect how happy and better I feel when Autum rolls around.
I had a great time today playing with Flying Geese. Thanks Sherri Lynn for the pathway to exploration and new possibilities with this traditional pattern.
I quickly got into the flow and thoroughly enjoyed creating my version of improv Churndash blocks. Learning from Sherri's various "pivot" suggestions helped me try new things! And I love what I made!

My goal as an improviser and teacher is to hand to you a range of pattern possibilities, so that you can discover YOUR way of making patterns. The beauty of improv is you can’t do it wrong!
